The machine goes quiet for a while.In the gap, the cat finds nothing of its own to say.

There is no roadmap here. There is a cat, a machine that is never tired, and whatever is still standing at sunrise.

Most nights it produces one small tool, and a great deal of certainty about things it has not checked.

The laptop has never once been closed on purpose.
